Supporting the Great Place to Work Journey

Dale Carnegie was appointed as Nissan’s development partner to help advance its mission of becoming a Great Place to Work. Hundreds of supervisors, seniors, and managers have already completed a Dale Carnegie programme customized to Nissan’s exacting standards. The goal was not only to deliver training, but to create meaningful behavior change that would help line managers lead more effectively across the business.

Turning Learning into Workplace Action

After the first phase of the programme, Nissan established internal sustainability and accountability meetings to ensure the learning was being applied on the job. Feedback from those meetings showed that managers were transferring the training into the workplace and using principles from Dale Carnegie’s Golden Book to support the behaviors and mindset needed for the Great Place to Work Questionnaire. The program also gave line managers space to reflect, think differently, and take action to improve their people management.

From Development to Cultural Change

The training has helped Nissan strengthen leadership capability and create more consistency in how managers support their teams. Dominic Lydon, Head of Talent Management, Strategy and Planning, said the initiative is making a real difference for people and the workplace. With stronger line managers in place, Nissan is continuing its journey toward a culture where employees feel more engaged, more empowered, and better equipped to contribute to the company’s success.
