Building a Learning Culture at Brother UK
A long-term Dale Carnegie partnership that developed internal talent, strengthened resilience, and helped Brother UK grow future leaders from within.
Brother UK has worked with Dale Carnegie since 2014 to nurture talent across the organization and build a stronger culture of learning. As the company attracted a younger workforce in a fast-changing technology landscape, leadership wanted to create an environment that would engage employees, retain key talent, and support internal progression from front-line roles into management.

Creating a Culture of Growth from Within
Brother UK’s long-term ambition was to become an employer of choice by developing future leaders from its own talent pool. To support that vision, the company needed a consistent learning culture that would encourage people to grow, stay engaged, and take on increasing responsibility over time. Dale Carnegie became a key partner in shaping that culture through practical development and people-focused training.

Building Resilience and Mindset Across the Organization
Every employee attended a Growth Mind-Set Workshop and training on How to Be Resilient in Changing Times. In addition, Brother UK used Dale Carnegie’s wider catalogue of open programs to support specific employees and future leaders with targeted development. This combination of broad participation and tactical leadership development helped create a more flexible, appreciative, and ambitious workforce.

From Learning Culture to External Recognition
Brother UK’s investment in development paid off through stronger engagement, longer employee retention, and a deeper bench of internal talent. The company became the first UK medium-sized employer to receive the Investors in People Platinum Award in 2019 and also earned a second Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development and a second Princess Royal Training Award. Managing Director Phil Jones said the business’s success is closely tied to both its people and its products, noting that employees stay with the company for an average of 13 years and that the organization’s learning culture has been central to its achievements.
